Of course, the best way to do this is to simply pack your bags and escape the stress of everyday life with your favorite person by your side.

There is hardly anything better for couples than a vacation together. No matter whether it’s just a short break in a wellness hotel, a romantic weekend trip or an annual summer vacation – a trip together brings people together and creates beautiful memories.

As a little suggestion, we have looked for ten really romantic holiday destinations that are ideal for lovers.

1. Paris, France

When it comes to romantic travel destinations for couples, then of course the classic Paris cannot be missed. The City of Love is home to numerous romantic squares, buildings and restaurants, making it a popular vacation destination for couples.

On a couple’s trip to Paris, a visit to the Eiffel Tower is of course a must. Just the sight of this unique landmark, especially after dark, creates a romantic atmosphere. So it’s no wonder that this location sees an average of two marriage proposals per day.

A boat trip along the Seine is also an option for lovers. On some ships it is even possible to have dinner. A detour to the artists’ district of Montmartre is also worthwhile. Here you will find a wall with the words “Je t’aime” in 250 languages.

2. Venice, Italy

Along with Paris, Venice is also one of the most romantic cities in the world – and rightly so. With its small restaurants and cafés, the typical Venetian houses in pastel colors and the impressive palaces, the city in Italy is made for couples in love.

A gondola ride for two on the waterways of Venice is of course a must on a romantic vacation. You should also visit the Doge’s Palace and St. Mark’s Basilica on your trip. Otherwise, it’s worth simply wandering through the old town and discovering the many small, winding streets.

For long walks on the beach, you can go to the beautiful Lido de Venezia or Alberoni, just outside the city center of Venice.

3. Lüneburg Heath, Germany

You don’t necessarily have to travel far for a couple’s vacation. There are also romantic places in Germany where you can spend lovely hours or days together. The Lüneburg Heath is a holiday region to fall in love with.

The Lüneburg Heath exudes a romantic atmosphere with its beautiful and seemingly endless heathland. A trip when the heather is in bloom in late summer between August 8th and September 9th is particularly worthwhile. Then the landscape shines in a strong purple.

4. Verona, Italy

In the ranking of the most romantic places in the world, Verona is right at the top. After all, Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet fell madly in love here.

A highlight for couples in love is a visit to Julia’s famous balcony in Via Capello 23. You can leave small love letters and locks in the courtyard of the house. If things aren’t going so well when it comes to love, all you have to do is approach the statue of Juliet in the middle of the courtyard and touch her right breast. If you like, you can also write Julia a letter and post it in the red mailbox. The letters are answered by volunteer members of the “Club di Giulietta”, which has been giving wise advice on matters of the heart for seventy years.

Another romantic place is the Verona Arena, the city’s landmark. Opera performances and concerts regularly take place in the Roman amphitheater. Verona’s old town with its historic streets and picturesque houses has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000.

5. Cappadocia, Türkiye

The next romantic destination for couples is in Turkey. We are talking about the Cappadocia region, which is best known for its “fairy chimneys”. This refers to the cone-shaped rock formations that were formed by erosion from the volcanic tuff rock. This rocky landscape alone is definitely worth a trip. What is particularly romantic in Cappadocia are the countless hot air balloons that float across the sky.

A balloon ride at sunrise is an absolutely amazing and magical experience for two that you will definitely not forget in a hurry. If you like, you can of course also watch the picture-book spectacle from below.

6. Zillertal, Austria

Fancy romance? Then off to Austria, more precisely to Tyrol. The Zillertal is one of the most popular destinations in Austria and offers perfect conditions for a couple’s holiday, as there are numerous romantic places and hotels in the region.

How about, for example, a wellness hotel or a cozy mountain hut with a fireplace? It gets particularly cozy in winter when the mountains and landscape are covered in snow, but a trip is definitely worth it in summer too.

7. Amalfi Coast, Italy

Many people are probably familiar with the Amalfi Coast thanks to Instagram. Numerous celebrities, Hollywood stars and influencers come here every year. But even though the coastal region in Italy can get crowded, especially in summer, the Amalfi Coast is and remains a real holiday paradise for lovers.

Whether Positano, Amalfi or Ravello – the cities delight with picturesque alleys that slope like terraces towards the coast, a breathtaking backdrop, great sunsets and idyllic small harbors. An absolutely romantic destination in Italy.

8. Santorini, Greece

Anyone who has ever been to Santorini knows only too well what special charm the small Cyclades island exudes. Picturesque white houses with blue roofs, steep rock faces, pitch-black lava beaches, the azure waters of the Aegean Sea and traditional Greek taverns – Santorini is a real picture-perfect place.

The sunset in the village of Oia in the very north of the island is particularly romantic. It is one of the most impressive on the island, but be careful: it can get crowded! Do you love wine? Perfect. Then you should definitely stop by one of the many wineries on the island and take part in a tasting.

9. Iceland

Iceland is ideal for a romantic couple’s vacation. Volcanoes, black lava fields, glaciers and geysers – the largest volcanic island in the world offers you lots of nature and time for togetherness. And since it usually gets pretty cold in Iceland, it’s time to get out of the hectic everyday life and into a cozy holiday.

It gets cozy and warm when you take a bath in the Blue Lagoon on the Reykjanes Peninsula near the capital Reykjavík, which is between 37 and 42 degrees Celsius. It is at least as romantic to watch the northern lights together, which make the sky shine in bright colors at night. In Iceland, the lights are best seen in the months of February and March and September and October. The best way to discover the diverse and impressive nature is by car or motorhome.

10. Maldives

A real dream for lovers are luxurious water bungalows from which you can jump straight into the cool water. It will also be romantic in the evening with a candlelight dinner under the stars.
