Nathalie Simon has been in a relationship for 43 years, she reveals her secret: “We bicker, but…”

It's an achievement in today's world: Nathalie Simon is in a relationship – and happy! – for 43 years, four decades of perfect love with a certain Tanguy. This Monday, March 26, she spoke to Lucile Woodward in her podcast Long live. The opportunity for her to discuss her passion for sport, her television career, but also her relationship and the secret of her longevity. Parents of a daughter named Nina, Nathalie Simon and her husband Tanguy met in 1981, when she was only 15 years old. Yes, you read correctly, Nathalie Simon found the man of her life as a teenager. His secret to such longevity? The – imposed – absence of routine: “We always have an intermittent relationship (…) We didn't have this routine which can be tiring and then, as soon as I was there, we always shared everything. We do all our hobbies together: our sports, our travels, we share a lot of things.”

Indeed, as a former windsurfing champion, Nathalie Simon was often absent from the family home, sometimes up to six to seven months a year. Then, as a television host, filming took up just as much time. However, Nathalie Simon and Tanguy have always made sure to value shared moments and place communication at the heart of their relationship. “We obviously bicker, but we never have huge arguments. We agree on our paths in life and we take stock regularly (…) Life together means making compromises“, believes the host, who wanted to make a beautiful declaration of love to her other half: “Tanguy is the man of my life, he's my other half (…) he's the father of my daughter, he's my lover, my lover, my partner (…) I I chose.”

After eighteen years of relationship, Nathalie Simon and Tanguy welcomed their daughter, Nina. This newcomer turned their lives upside down, including their relationship. To the point that the little girl would have had difficulty finding her place in this home: “It’s great (the arrival of a baby) because it builds a family and at the same time, it deconstructs a little life as a couple,” explained Nathalie Simon, adding: “Nina arrived, we had been living together for 18 years so it was difficult for her to find her place in this close couple that we are.”
